It had been so long since I last worked on a web project, and I jumped into it without knowing anything about WordPress.
Timeline
October 24
- Picked up the basics of WordPress through YouTube tutorials.
October 25
- Created an account on Cloudways and kicked off WordPress development (https://www.cloudways.com/de/).
- Called it “development,” but it was mostly trial and error.
- My learning style has always been diving in headfirst, breaking things, and rebuilding them from scratch.
October 28
- Spotted Hostinger’s affordable pricing and migrated the existing landing page over to Hostinger (https://www.hostinger.com/).
October 29
- The initial landing page was built using a free template, so I redesigned it from the ground up, drawing inspiration from paid templates I liked.
November 2
- Wrapped up the landing page and started setting up the blog.
- Installed the “Polylang” plugin for multilingual blog support.
- Ran into another round of trial and error since only the blog section needed multilingual support.
I decided to stop here for now and publish my first post.
My very first program was a simple web page I built back in college.
Those were the days when I would open Notepad on Windows and type out HTML tag by tag. The excitement of that experience even led me to switch my major from business to engineering, so working on this brought back quite a few memories.
The days of frantically typing lines of code are largely gone; now, development happens through conversations with AI.
When you don’t have to write code from scratch, all you really need to understand is the underlying logic. It makes me realize that non-developers can build things quite easily nowadays.
Now that the WordPress setup is behind me, it’s time to dive back into 3D modeling.
